Executive Function

Unlocking Potential

Many bright students don’t struggle because they can’t learn—they struggle because key executive function skills like planning, organizing, starting tasks, managing time, and regulating emotions aren’t fully developed yet. These skills form the mental “control center” that helps students stay focused, flexible, and in charge of their learning.

At our learning center, we believe there’s no single model that works for every student. Each learner has a unique set of strengths and challenges—so our educators are trained to use multiple evidence-based frameworks to find the best fit for each situation.

We draw from several leading models and approaches, including:

  • Smart but Scattered by Peg Dawson and Richard Guare — a widely used, practical framework for teaching executive skills step by step.

  • The The Eight Executive Functions model — emphasizing skills like impulse control, emotional regulation, working memory, planning, and organization.

  • The EF Skills Developmental Progression framework — helping us align strategies with how executive functions develop over time.

  • Principles of Self-Regulated Learning — empowering students to reflect on their thinking, motivation, and strategies.

By blending these models, our educators customize instruction to meet your child where they are and help them build the skills they need to succeed—not just in school, but in everyday life. The result is more confidence, more independence, and less stress for both students and families.
